Zoran Krivokapić

Prof. Dr Zoran Krivokapić, Member of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA), full professor of surgery at the Medical University of Belgrade, Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS), Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Honorary Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS), Honorary Fellow of the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP).

Since 1993. the Head of the Coloproctology Department at the First Surgical Clinic, Clinical Center of Serbia.

After completing his residency he opted for colorectal surgery and received additional training in that field in the following hospitals: Royal London Hospital, St George’s Нospital, St. Mark’s Hospital (in London), Hampsher Hospital in Basingstoke (Great Britain), Memorial Sloan Ketering Cancer Center in New York, Cancer Hospital in Tokyo, Academic Hospital in Maastricht (Netherlands) and University Hospital MAS in Malmo (Sweden) whereas in Strasbourg he completed a laparoscopic surgery training course in 1997 and earned a European certificate.

He is appointed as  a 'Visiting professor' at the respective medical schools of the universities in University of Southern California, Medical University of Craiova – Romania, Medical faculty University of Skopje – Macedonija,  Medical faculty University of Banja Luka – Republic of Srpska / Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He is also a Teacher of European Shcool of Radiotherapy (ESTRO).

He is Honorary member of: European society of coloproctology (ESCP), Italian Society of Colorectal Surgery, Bulgarian Surgical Society, Romanian Society of Surgery, Hungarian Association of Surgery, Israel Society of colon and Rectal Surgery (ISCRS), Russian Asociation of Coloproctology, Surgical Assembly of Republika Srpska and Medical Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Member of the European Surgical Association (ESA) from 2016.

Doctorum Universitatis Honoris Causa at the University of Craiova and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi (Romania).

In May 2018. he became Honorary member of the Romanian Academy of Medical Sciences.

In June 2019 he was appointed as Honorary President of the Surgical Section of the Serbian Medical Association.

Honorary citizen of Bor, Zvecan and City  of Craiova.

He is a Founder and the Director of the Society of Coloproctology of Yugoslavia (SCPY), member of over 20 foreign and domestic associations, past President of the Serbian Society of Surgeons (2003 – 2008), President of European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) for 2011 – 2012, Director of International Advisory Affairs, Advisory Member at Larg (2012 – 2014) and General Secretary   of the International Society of University Colon and Rectum Surgeons (ISUCRS).

Founder of the Society of Pelvic Floor Disorders in China (2015).

Founder of modern coloproctological medicine and surgery in Serbia.

He is a member of the Human Reproduction Department of Medical Sciences of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (2015).

He initiated 46 new surgical and diagnostic procedures in the field of coloproctological medicine. During his surgical career he operated more then 7000 patients dignosed as colorectal carcinoma. He performed more than 200 sphincter reconstructions, more than 200 “J” pouch after total coloprotectomy coused by ulcerative colitis.

He operated by invitation in more than 50 institutions in Serbia or workshop “Live surgery”: Israel (Tel-Aviv), London, Temissoara, Craiova, Turkey, Riga (Latvia), Cairo, Nis, Belgrade.

 He is an author of 5 monographies and co-author of over 580 papers. Also He is the author in 50 monogprahies and chapters in books of which 9 were international editions.

His Google scholar citation Index – 3781, h index – 19.

As a lead researcher or associate researcher he has taken part in 4 international and 5 domsestic projects.

He held 282 lectures, 20 by invitation in foreign institutions, 131 on international and 131 on domestic congresses and meetings: Tokyo, London, Leedz, New York, Moscow, San Diego, Los Angeles,  Rome, Verona, Tel-Aviv, Nant, Vienna, Graz-Austria, Sao Paolo Istanbul, Budapest, Sofia, Varna-Bulgaria, Bucharest, Turnu-Severin, Craiova, Iasi –Romania, Debrecin-Hungary, Brno-Chek Republic, Lodz-Poland, Kaunas-Lithvania, Istanbul, Antalia-Turkey, Athens, Tessaloniki - Greece, Pestani- Slovakia, Ljubljana, Bled-Slovenia, Skopje-Macedonia, Sarajevo Mostar-Bosnia and Herzegovina, Banja Luka, Zvornik – Serbian Republic, Beijing – China, Riga – Latvia, San Antonio, Cairo, Tirana – Albanija, Birmingham – UK, Tuzla – BiH, Sofia – Bulgaria, Cape Town – South Africa, Serok – Poland, Flensburger – Germany, Hangzhou City – China, St. Petersburg, Suzdal (Russia), Plitvice (Croacia).

In some countries he delivered lectures and performed live surgery demonstrations.

He has taken part as chair of the sessions or a round table participant 93 times.

In 2008 he received Award “Travelling Felloship” of the Association of coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI).

In 2013 he was the winner of the prize of Belgrade city in the field of medicine for 2012 year and also he received the Medal “Dr Vladan Djordjevic” from the Military Academy as the best Serbian surgeon.

In 2014 he received the award of the Republic of Serbia “Kapetan Misha Anastasijevic” for the category of exceptional results in the field of Medical science.

In 2016 from President of the Republic of Serbia receives “Gold Medal of Merit”.

In 2017 from the Serbian Medical Society he receives the “Annual award for lifetime achievement

In June 2018 from the Organizing committee of the Vidovdan ceremonies he receives the   recognition the Knight of Serbian Medicine.

In November 2018 he from the Association Serbian Krivak he received the Annual award for “the top achievements in medicine”.

 In December 2018, he received award “Matija Ban” the highest annual award of municipality Cukarica.

He speaks English and uses Russian language.
