Yasuko Maeda

Yasuko Maeda currently works at Western General Hospital and University of Edinburgh in the UK. She graduated from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine and underwent surgical training in Japan, UK, Denmark and South Africa. She qualified as a specialist surgeon in Denmark in 2013.

Her main clinical interest is Pelvic Floor Disorder, after completing her MPhil for minimally invasive treatment for faecal incontinence at University of London. Her research portfolio is diverse and includes all areas of colorectal surgery and tissue regeneration, resulting in more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and 5 book chapters to date.

She has been a member of International Continence Society Committee, reviewer of NIHR grant application, appraiser for Health Technology Wales, and examiner of European Board specialist examination of coloproctology.  

She is an Associate Editor of Colorectal Disease and current reviewer for British Journal of Surgery, Diseases of Colon and Rectum, Techniques in Coloproctology, among other journals.
